Margie Ann MacDonald Chaplain Doug Collins and his wife Karen Collins have been members of Barrhaven United Church since 1983 when they came to us from Knox United Church in Nepean and prior to that Knox United Church in Thunder Bay. He has been twice the Chair of Council, a BUC Presbyter, a member of the Pastoral Care team and a Healing Pathway Practitioner with our Healing Pathway Ministry.

Doug has served as the Chair of the Chaplaincy Committee of the Ottawa Presbytery and has been volunteer pastoral visitor at both the Queensway Carleton Hospital and The Ottawa Hospital for the United Church of Canada.

Doug worked for several years as a facilitator with the Ottawa Pastoral Care Training Program. He has recently retired as a Part-time, On-call Corporate Clinical Chaplain with the Ottawa Hospital Spiritual Care Department.

Doug has completed a 5 year term on the executive of the Ontario North East Region of the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care as their vice chair, chair and past chair positions. He is now a member of the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care Foundation.

Doug for many years has taken interest and engaged in Christian Meditation and Mindfulness. He is happy to rejoin the BUC Meditation group started by our former CDM Margie Ann MacDonald. In addition he has expressed a keen interest in continuing the tradition at BUC of offering Bible Study and will work closely with and support our minister Rev. Carla Van Delen.

Doug's responsibilities are to provide resources, and support to the Sunday School Coordinator, teachers and volunteers. In addition he will assist and support young families through community events and outreach.
