Barrhaven United Church is a young and growing congregation of approximately 330 singles and families.

The church owns the five acre parcel of land on the Jockvale Road, at the rail line and at the end of Dolan Drive.

Part of the site is leased to the City of Ottawa for a baseball diamond, and part to the Barrhaven Non-Profit Housing Corporation.

From the beginning, the church planned mixed use development of the site to include a church building, housing and some recreation space. The housing on site represents 41 units for singles, couples and families of all ages. The development also serves the physically challenged, with some units being wheelchair accessible, and environmentally sensitive.

The March of Dimes has been involved and is sponsoring attendant care for some residents. The units are managed by the Barrhaven Non-Profit Housing Corporation which is closely tied to the church through its Board of directors. There is no on financial link between the housing and the church. The Housing community offers a unique opportunity for members of BUC to participate in community outreach close to home.

Construction of our church began in the Fall of 1992 and we moved in just after Easter '93. The structure includes a sanctuary, a hall with adjacent kitchen, an administration block with offices and downstairs Sunday School / meeting rooms and a Nursery. The Genesis Wing is now part of the structure and is joined by a walkway.
